Many factors contribute to hair loss. Some of them are hormonal
changes, nutritional deficiency, mental and physical stress and various
types medical conditions. One major cause of hair loss is problems with
the thyroid. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are responsible
for contributing to hair loss in men
and women. Normally, hair growth has three phases, the anagen phase,
the catagen phase and the dormant phase. When a person suffers from
hypothyroidism or hypothyroidism, the general mechanism of the hair
growth process shuts down and loses balance. Thyroid malfunctions can
force hair follicles to remain in the dormant phase for a longer period
of time than normal. This leads to stalled hair growth and eventually
hair loss. Read the full story on "Thyroid Hair Loss Information ". (Via Medical News Today )

Hair loss is considered a big problem in both men and
women. And a certain bad habit has been proven to contribute to this
problem: smoking.
Recent researches have proven that smoking is highly associated to hair loss.
According to Gay Sutherland, Director of the Maudsley Hospital Smokers
Clinic in London, "Cigarettes contain 4,000 different chemicals and
gases, some of them deadly. When you smoke, your blood carries around
poisonous carbon monoxide gas which hijacks the red blood cells." This
prevents the cells from carrying the right amounts of oxygen around
your body including your hair,
as it is not being supplied with enough nutrients or fresh oxygen from
the blood stream. Evidently, you may notice that the top layers of your
hair are quite brittle because they are most likely malnourished. Read the remaining story of "Warning to Smokers Your Habit Can Cause You Hair Loss" (via Dentalplans.com)

Hair loss in an abnormal manner in children and they may also suffer from lice infestation.
Hair does not serve any important function in the body, yet, the appearance and health of our hair matters. It enhances our overall look and plays an important role in developing our self-image. In fact, not just adults, children too feel the pinch when they lose hair.
Even newborns lose some strands, if not all of their hair. This is a normal phenomenon and is expected to occur during the first six months. Occasionally, an infant may lose more hair towards the back of the head as they often move their head from side to side or spend much time on their backs.
Hair loss in an abnormal manner in children is caused by one of the five conditions- alopecia areata, tinea capitis, traction alopecia, trichotillomania, and telogen effluvium.
In addition, children may also suffer from lice infestation. Read the full story on "Is your kid’s hair healthy?" (via Cybernoon.com )
